Concrete is not eternal. Cracks, chips, dusting and destruction of the concrete surface are something that everyone faces sooner or later. You can repair a concrete floor, walls, foundation and blind area that has crumbled using professional repair mixtures. The wrong choice of repair mixture is the main problem why repairs last for one season.

In this article, we will consider professional repair mixtures for concrete Teknorep , which are actively used at industrial facilities and withstand high loads for many years.

Why does concrete collapse?

The main reasons why concrete collapses:

  • moisture and freezing

  • reinforcement corrosion

  • mechanical loads

  • weak or old foundation

  • lack of waterproofing

And if you simply “cover up” the defect, the result will be short-lived and you will have to repair it again.

What are Teknorep repair mixtures used for?

Teknorep repair mixtures are special repair compounds for:

  • restoration of concrete geometry

  • surface hardening

  • protection of concrete surfaces from water and frost

They have:

  • high adhesion to old concrete

  • high compressive strength

  • frost resistance

  • resistance to cracking

Types of repair mixtures for concrete Teknorep

1. Thin-layer (finishing)

Ideal for:

  • leveling

  • repair of minor defects

  • preparation for coating

✔ application layer: 1–30 mm

Thin-layer repair mixtures include:

Teknorep 200 is a thin-layer polymer-cement repair mixture for vertical and horizontal surfaces, reinforced with polymer fibers.

Characteristics of the repair mixture Teknorep 200 :

Used to eliminate defects with a thickness of 3 to 30 mm.

Compressive strength (EN 12808-3) – 25 N/mm²

Flexural strength (EN 12808-3) – 7 N/mm²

Bond strength to concrete (EN 1542) – 1 N/mm²

Shrinkage (EN 12617-4) – 0.8 N/mm²

Fire resistance – A1

Teknorep 200 EX is a thin-layer polymer-cement reinforced repair mixture for vertical and horizontal surfaces, reinforced with polymer fibers.

Characteristics of the Teknorep 200 EX repair mixture :

Used to eliminate defects with a thickness of 1 to 30 mm.

Compressive strength (EN 12808-3) – 35 N/mm²

Flexural strength (EN 12808-3) – 8 N/mm²

Bond strength to concrete (EN 1542) – 1 N/mm²

Shrinkage (EN 12617-4) – 1.5 N/mm²

Fire resistance – A1

2. Structural (rough repairs)

Used for:

  • deep damage

  • restoration of load-bearing elements

  • repair of corners, columns, slabs

✔ application layer: from 10 mm to 40 mm

For structural repairs of concrete and reinforced concrete structures, we choose the repair mixture Teknorep 300 or Teknorep 300 EX . These mixtures belong to class R4 - this is the highest class of strength and requirements for concrete repair compounds according to the European standard EN 1504-3 .

Teknorep 300 is a one-component thixotropic, non-shrinking repair compound reinforced with polymer fibers.

Characteristics of the Teknorep 300 repair mixture :

Used to eliminate defects with a thickness of 10 to 40 mm.

Compressive strength (EN 12808-3) – 45 N/mm²

Flexural strength (EN 12808-3) – 7 N/mm²

Bond strength to concrete (EN 1542) – 2 N/mm²

Fire resistance – NG

Teknorep 300 EX is a thixotropic, non-shrinking repair compound of increased strength for vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Characteristics of the Teknorep 300 EX repair mixture :

Used to eliminate defects with a thickness of 10 to 40 mm.

Compressive strength (EN 12808-3) – 50 N/mm²

Flexural strength (EN 12808-3) – 10 N/mm²

Bond strength to concrete (EN 1542) – 2 N/mm²

Fire resistance – NG

The most common mistakes when repairing concrete

The most common mistakes in concrete repair are related to improper preparation of the base and violation of technology. These include an uncleaned surface, the presence of dust, dirt or grease, performing repairs on weak or damaged concrete, the absence of an adhesive layer, and ignoring the moisture level of the base. All this critically reduces the adhesion of the material to the surface, and as a result, after a few months the repair layer begins to peel off, often falling off in solid “cakes”.

How to properly repair concrete

  1. Remove weak concrete

  2. Clean the surface (to a solid base)

  3. Remove dust and moisten the base

  4. Apply an adhesion layer and Tekno AD corrosion inhibitor

  5. Mix the repair mixture correctly in proportion to water.

  6. Give the material time to gain strength before putting it into service

Why is it important to use Tekno AD adhesion promoter and reinforcement corrosion protection?

Without good adhesion:

  • the repair mixture does not “stick”

  • cracks appear

  • new concrete is discarded

That is why proper preparation of the concrete surface is the key to successful and professional concrete repair.

Therefore, it is imperative that we apply a material such as Tekno AD to form a single continuous monolith between the old concrete and the repair mixture .

Tekno AD is a dry mortar mixture for better adhesion of old concrete surfaces to new ones. Contains special additives and corrosion inhibitors.

Where are Teknorep repair mixtures used?

  • concrete floors (garages, warehouses)

  • stairs and ramps

  • facades

  • foundations

  • balconies and terraces

How to choose the right Teknorep repair mixture

Pay attention to:

  • coating thickness

  • compressive strength

  • adhesion

  • frost resistance

  • operating conditions

Concrete repair is a full-fledged technological process in which every detail is important: from the correct assessment of the condition of the base to compliance with all stages of preparation and application of materials.

It is a comprehensive approach - high-quality surface cleaning, removal of weak areas, moisture control, and use of an appropriate repair mixture - that ensures reliable adhesion and durability of the coating.

By choosing professional materials and following concrete repair technology, you get a result that lasts for years, withstands loads, temperature changes, and moisture, and does not collapse after the first winter.
