To create a durable, wear-resistant and chemically resistant concrete floor coating, a multilayer epoxy system based on Teknobond 300 and Teknobond 600 materials using quartz sand of a fraction of 0.1–0.3 mm is proposed.

The system involves the sequential application of an epoxy primer, a leveling layer with quartz sand, an intermediate sprinkling with quartz sand and a finishing epoxy coating. This solution allows you to prepare the base for applying the finishing layer and form a continuous protective coating for use in rooms with increased requirements for strength, durability and chemical resistance of the floor.

The design solution can be used for concrete floors in production facilities, warehouses, garages, workshops, service stations, and other facilities of appropriate purpose.

Products and description

Teknobond 300

A two-component, solvent-free epoxy primer used as a primer before applying epoxy and polyurethane topcoats, as well as a binder for leveling mortars and screeds.

Teknobond 600

Two-component epoxy paint for application to concrete, metal, wooden and plastered surfaces, resistant to aggressive environments and chemicals.

Quartz sand

Fraction 0.1–0.3 mm.

Requirements for the base

Tear and compressive strength

The concrete base must be strong and have a compressive strength of at least 25 N/mm² and a tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm² .

The substrate must be clean, dry and free from contamination: dirt, oil, grease, coatings, surface treatments, etc. If in doubt, test on a small area first.

Humidity

Check the moisture content of the substrate before application. If the moisture content exceeds 4% by weight, Teknobond 300 NB can be used as a moisture barrier system.

Air and surface temperature

Minimum: +10 °C.

Maximum: +30 °C.

Preparing the base

Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blasting to remove laitance and old coatings and to create a rough profile for adhesion. The surface must be clean, dry and free of laitance, dirt, grease, oil and other contaminants.

Weak concrete must be removed and surface defects, pores and cavities must be fully exposed. Repair of the base, filling of pores and cavities and leveling should be carried out with appropriate repair mixtures Teknorep , Teknoself , or Teknogrout .

Teknobond 300 is a two-component, low-viscosity, solvent-free epoxy primer.

Areas of application

  • Priming of concrete surfaces, cement screeds and epoxy mortars.
  • Application on normal, warm, damp and wet surfaces.
  • Priming before applying epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings.
  • Use as a binder for epoxy leveling mortars and repair mixtures.

Features and benefits

  • Low viscosity.
  • High permeability.
  • High bond strength (adhesion).
  • Does not contain solvents.
  • Easy application.
  • Short waiting time between work stages.
  • Universal application.
  • Can be used indoors and outdoors.

Instructions for use

Surface preparation

The surface must be dry and free from dust, dirt, loose and friable particles, cement laitance, oil and grease. The concrete substrate must be clean, sound and have sufficient compressive strength of at least 25 N/mm² ; tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm² . To ensure maximum adhesion, the surface must be cleaned, in particular with compressed air or suitable mechanical methods.

Mix

Add component B to component A and mix with a low-speed electric mixer for 2–3 minutes , at speeds up to 400 rpm , until the mixture is uniform in color.

Causing

When applying Teknobond 300 concrete primer , it is necessary to form a continuous layer without pores. If necessary, apply two layers of primer. Teknobond 300 can be applied with a brush, roller or sprayer.

Notes and limitations

Do not apply the material at temperatures below the minimum allowable for its hardening. Low temperatures slow down, while high temperatures accelerate the hardening. The pot life of the mixture depends on the temperature of the substrate and the environment.

The substrate temperature during curing must be at least 3°C above the dew point.

Material may cause sensitization by skin contact. Use protective gloves, mask and goggles. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

Crystallization may occur during prolonged storage below +5 °C . The product can be used after returning to room temperature and dissolving the crystals.

Under the influence of direct sunlight and ultraviolet light, the hardened material may turn yellow.

Instructions for use

Surface quality: the substrate must be clean, dry, sound and free from foreign matter that could cause delamination.

Surface preparation: unevenness should be leveled and depressions should be filled.

Mixing: Teknobond 600 is a two-component product. Components A (resin) and B (hardener) are mixed in the specified ratio with a low-speed mixer until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

Layer scheme from bottom to top: base → Teknobond 300 primer → Teknobond 300 leveling layer with quartz sand → quartz sand sprinkling → Teknobond 600 coating .

The proposed multi-layer epoxy system Teknobond 300 + quartz sand + Teknobond 600 is a comprehensive solution for protecting concrete floors and creating a durable finish. The combination of primer, leveling and finishing layers ensures proper adhesion of materials to the base, helps to level the surface and increases the floor's resistance to abrasion and chemical exposure.

The key conditions for the system's effectiveness are proper preparation of the concrete base, adherence to the technology of mixing and applying materials, and adherence to the recommended curing conditions.

System materials: Teknobond 300 - two-component epoxy primer and Teknobond 600 - two-component epoxy coating.
