D2TE Teknofay 200 Ready-to-use Dispersion Adhesive with Improved Adhesion for Interior Wall and Floor Work
This ready-to-use dispersion adhesive with improved adhesion is designed for interior wall and floor tiling.
Complies with D2TE class.
Intended Uses for D2TE Teknofay 200 Adhesive:
Tiling:
- Bathroom and shower walls and floors;
- Wooden surfaces (provided they are moisture-resistant, e.g., waterproof plywood is well bonded)
- Cement plasters and substrates;
- Precast or monolithic concrete walls;
- Gypsum plasters or substrates;
- Drywall;
- Painted wall surfaces (provided the paint is durable and the tiles are absorbent)
- Existing ceramic tiles (provided one of the surfaces is absorbent)
- Large floor and wall tiles;
- Ceramic tiles on heated screeds. Bonding insulating materials over plaster
Features and Benefits:
- Long working time with the mixture
- Flexible
- Odorless
- Does not slip on vertical surfaces
- Humidity levels do not affect performance
SUBSTRATE QUALITY
- Substrates must be structurally sound, clean, dry, and free of loose or loose particles. Any contaminants that could reduce the adhesion of the adhesive to the substrate (dust, dirt, oil, grease, cement laitance, efflorescence, etc.) are not allowed.
- The substrate cleaning method is selected depending on the condition of the substrate and the degree of contamination. • Minor defects up to 5 mm deep can be leveled with Teknofay 200 tile adhesive 24 hours before starting work. Deeper defects must be repaired properly. Cracks in the substrate must be identified and repaired accordingly.
- When tiling on substrates with low absorbency, such as existing ceramic tiles, painted surfaces, etc., ensure sufficient adhesion and integrity, then clean and degrease them using suitable products.
- When tiling in hot conditions or on highly absorbent substrates, thoroughly moisten the substrate immediately before applying the adhesive, but do not allow water to penetrate or form standing water on the surface.
- Before tiling in damp areas, use a suitable waterproofing material.
Preparation:
Teknofay 200 is supplied ready-to-use and does not require any special preparation. However, to improve the adhesive's homogeneity and workability, it is recommended to mix it manually with a trowel for a few seconds.
Application of Adhesive:
- Apply Teknofay 200 adhesive with a notched trowel.
- Apply sufficient adhesive to ensure complete wetting of the back of the tile.
- Lay the tiles on freshly applied adhesive, applying sufficient pressure to ensure complete and uniform contact between the tile and the adhesive. If a dried film forms on the adhesive surface, remove all of the adhesive and apply fresh adhesive.
- Avoid working in direct sunlight and/or in strong winds or drafts.
LIMITATIONS
- The moisture content of gypsum substrates should not exceed 0.5%.
- Teknofay 200 can be applied to cementitious and acrylic waterproofing coatings.
- When laying any natural stone, it is recommended to perform a test application on a small area.
Teknofay 200 adhesive should not be used in the following cases:
- On metal substrates.
- Outdoors and in areas with very high humidity.
